Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic The Hedgehog had his first game in 1991 on the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis which was called ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’, but has now been changed to ‘Sonic Genesis’, 'Sonic 1' or 'Sonic 1991' due to a 2006/2007 release of a PS3 and X-Box 360 game called ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’. Throughout the years, Sonic’s design has become slimmer and taller.
Throughout the games, Sonic has met new friends and enemies – Dr. Eggman being his main rival, though this has changed, adding more characters to his rival list, such as Shadow. Miles ‘Tails’ Prower, who first appeared in ‘Sonic The Hedgehog 2’ on Master System and Game Gear, has followed Sonic and helped him throughout the years.
During the games, Sonic has been in a variety of positions, from the classic run, to driving and even riding a Hover Board/Extreme Gear. Sonic has also had his own TV Series’, including Sonic Underground and Sonic X, and a Comic Series, one of which is ‘Sonic the Comic’, which started in 1993 and finished in 2002.
Sonic’s main ability is to run the speed of sound, but main abilities include the homing attack, spindash and special moves such as Sonic Wind (Sonic Adventure 2) and Blue Tornado (Sonic Heroes). He also used Chaos Control while in the exploding capsule in Sonic Adventure 2. Power-ups featured in the Sonic games have ranged from temporary items such as the Flame, Thunder, and Aqua Shields featured in ‘Sonic 3 and Knuckles’, to more permanent accessories such as the Light Shoes of ‘Sonic Adventure’. In 'Sonic the Hedgehog 2', Sonic transformed into Super Sonic as a result of collecting the 7 Chaos Emeralds. In 'Sonic & Knuckles', Sonic was able to transform into Hyper Sonic using the 'Super Emeralds'. In this form, Sonic is no longer yellow/gold but glows with the colours of the Chaos Emeralds, surrounded by flashing sparks. And In ‘Sonic and the Secret Rings’, Sonic absorbed 3 of the 7 World Rings (representing Sadness, Rage, and Hatred) and became overwhelmed with power and transformed into another form, called Darkspine Sonic.
Before Sonic the Hedgehog entered the Video Gaming world, Alex Kidd was known as SEGA's mascot?
