Dr. Eggman

First appearing in Sonic 1 on the SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis under the name ‘Dr. Robotnik’, Dr. Ivo Robotnik ‘Eggman’ has been the main villain in many of the Sonic games, but seems to have been replaced by other characters as the main enemy, such as Mephiles the Dark in ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ (2006/2007). However, Eggman is always a major enemy in some way in any game.

Dr. Eggman, as he is more commonly known as, is a human scientist with an IQ of 300, and his main ambition is to take over the world, just like every other evil genius, and create his own nation ‘EggmanLand’ (or ‘RobotnikLand’), which is to be ruled by ‘The Eggman Empire’. With his intelligence, he has built many robots and large spaceships, one of which is the ‘Egg Carrier’ seen in Sonic Adventure (Dreamcast) and Sonic The Hedgehog (PS3/Xbox 360). However, even with his large IQ, he still fails due to his Arch Enemy, Sonic. Even though they are enemies, however, Eggman will help Sonic and his friends if the world is in danger – Most likely due to the fact that if the world is destroyed, there will be no where for him to build his Empire.

Dr. Eggman's voice actor, Deem Bristow from such games as Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 died due to a heart attack (January 15, 2005)? Eggman's first voice actor, John William Baldry (Long John Baldry) died the same year (July 21, 2005).
